What are our core values?

We bring social justice values into the heath care system.  Our methods and philosophy can be applied to other social inequities as well.

  • Participation: We are committed to ensuring that all people participate fully in defining and creating a caring and responsive health care system.
  • Inclusiveness: We strive to involve all people, and encourage leadership development and the achievement of common goals. All voices seeking to build a movement for quality, affordable health care for all are respected, valued and welcome.
  • Learning: Continuous learning is essential to our ability to respond effectively to the changes and challenges in our environment.
  • Diversity: We seek to build a movement that is culturally competent, able to listen to and respond to the needs of diverse individuals and communities.
  • Respect: All persons will be treated justly, through considerate and mindful interactions, as we build trust, community, and shared responsibility for success.
  • Empowerment: Through community building and education, we augment the values, strength, and impact of individuals and communities we serve. By working to gain power for those who want to preserve health and ensure care is given to all, we unite, organize and mobilize to achieve our mission.
  • Awareness: We challenge assumptions within ourselves and others that impede our effectiveness in achieving our mission, and that act as barriers to building community with the diverse people and communities we seek to serve.

Mission Statement

Orange County Healthcare for All is building a movement of empowered people and organizations with the goal of creating a health care system that is responsive to the needs of all people, particularly the most vulnerable. Orange County Healthcare for All is dedicated to making quality care the right of all people, and supports a health care system that is universal, comprehensive, and equitable.

How can I get involved?

Email or call one of our coordinators to set up a meeting at your home, church, or local community center. Come to our next meeting. Get informed. Call, write, or speak to your congressional representative, union, or local government or business representative. Ask everyone why -- since America spends twice as much as all the other industrialized countries on health care per person -- we have the worst health care outcome not the best.  After all, the 18,000 excess deaths in America every year because of lack of insurance are preventable.
